Social support

On this page:

Our social support services are more than just community participation programs - they are a whole life approach.

We support you to:
  • meet your own specific individual needs and help you achieve your goals
  • take part in daily activities of your choice
  • learn new skills
  • be a part of your community and social networks.
We believe age or ability are no barrier to enjoying your life.

Fun activities

Take up pottery, horse riding, dancing, or any other interest that you would like to pursue. We can help you do it all by yourself, or you can have fun out with friends. You could try:

  • photography
  • pottery
  • art and craft
  • lunch outings
  • karaoke
  • gardening
  • computer lessons
  • movies
  • library visits, and many more.

We can assist with any transport and personal support you may need while you're out and about too.

Sport and recreation

You can take part in our weekly Zumba and swimming classes, annuals sports days as well as our cricket and Gungee Origin footy matches.

Being active not only helps you be fit and healthy, you can also make new friends with similar interests. Enjoy playing:

  • lawn bowls
  • gymnastics
  • squash
  • kayaking
  • aqua aerobics
  • gym sessions
  • ten pin bowling.

Life skills

people-shopping

If you'd like to learn how to cook, go shopping or learn the best way for you to get about town, then we can support you to achieve these goals.

We can assist you in learning how to use technology such as your phone or computer to make your life easier, or so you can stay in touch with friends.

We can support you in:

  • shopping
  • cooking food
  • budgeting and managing your finances
  • being safe in the community
  • getting to medical appointments
  • learning how to get around town
  • getting along with others.

Our programs

The group programs we provide in Dubbo are suitable for:

  • Young people about to leave school, or have left school within the past two years. It’s not a problem if you work part time.
  • Adults who are living with a disability and are not working or studying full-time.
  • People aged between 45 and 65 years who need specialist disability services. Active ageing is also available to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with early onset ageing.

Create your own program

You can also create your own program to suit your individual needs through our one-on-one programs.

Get in touch with us if you would like more information about our programs or advice on the best pathway for you.
